There are a number of instances in which communicating by text is a very effective way of getting information to clients. Here are just a few of the main ones:
- Sending Dosing Reminders
- Set automated dosing reminders for the day of the month that clients need to give their pets flea, tick and heartworm preventives. Also use dosing reminders for chronic medications.
- Reminding clients about drug and food refills
- Too often, clients need “emergency refills” and call five minutes before closing time. Early intervention using text reminders could stop the habit.
- Making it convenient for the client to respond
- Repetition of a message gets results, so send text reminders for exams, vaccines and diagnostics.
- Confirming appointments and surgeries
- Send texts four days before scheduled appointments and procedures. If clients don’t reply to confirm, call them as a courtesy two days in advance.
- Giving patient updates
- Have technicians update clients once patients have recovered from procedures.
- Offering invitations to special events
- Send a text with a link to invitation details for special events like vaccination clinics, meet the new veterinarian, a holiday party, or a National Love your Dog Day celebration.
- Introducing new products and special offers
- Let clients know about dental care promotions, a new parasite protection product or a 2-for-1 deal on pet diets
- Encouraging referrals
- Send texts to your most loyal clients asking them to refer a friend. Include an incentive such as a gift certificate or money off on their next appointment.
