Welcome to this interactive e-learning course – Orchestrating an Effective Consultation. A consultation can go in many directions. An animal may be coming in for a wellness check and vaccination, or it may be sick or need surgery. In this e-learning we will give you the tools you need to refine and structure your consultations, and work with your clients to make the best decisions for their pets, all while staying on schedule. After all, we are all searching for ways to make happier clients, happier pets and happier vets!
The toolkit contains several lessons, including theory and examples of effective communication during the various phases of the consultation. The theory all comes from evidence-based communication science, delivered with a little “nurtur vision”, which will help you to hone those all-important communication skills and help you run more effective consultations.
You’ll also have the opportunity to test your skills with a VDT simulation that recreates a typical conversation with a client during a consultation. We hope you find this mix of theory and practice useful for building your skills.
Some tips before you start
You are almost ready to begin. Before you do so, in order to ensure you have the best experience, we want to share a few tips:
- The simulations work best on a computer with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
- Playing on your mobile phone? We recommend that you use this horizontal, so in Landscape mode.
- Turn on your sound during the training, then you will be able to hear the virtual avatars talking to you.
- Have you achieved a high score? Then it is also fun and educational to experience what happens if you choose a different option.
